The Pearl at COP30: Strengthening Climate Resilience through Satellite Climate Intelligence
Date: Tuesday, 12 November 2025
Time: 11:30–13:30 GMT
Location: Online
Join us at The Pearl’s COP30 event, co-organised with Space4Climate, UK Space Agency, National Centre for Earth Observation, and the Royal Meteorological Society, to explore how satellite-enabled Earth Observation (EO) is driving climate resilience in the UK. This event will be streamed live and will offer a unique opportunity to engage with the leading issues being discussed at COP30 in Brazil—without leaving the UK. The panel discussion, moderated by Professor Rosalind Cornforth, Lead of The Pearl, will feature speakers from across the public and private sectors showcasing real-world EO applications that protect lives, infrastructure, and national security from climate extremes.
Audiences will gain clear insights into how EO data supports decision-making, strengthens food and energy security, and helps meet the UK’s climate commitments. The event will conclude with a live link-up to Belém, Brazil, under the auspices of The Pearl’s COP Climate Action Studio, where Prof. Emmanuel Essah, Head of School for the Built Environment, and Robert Muthami, PhD student of the School of Law and The Pearl, will share reflections from inside the COP30 negotiations zone. This is your chance to hear directly from those shaping climate action on the global stage and to explore how EO is unlocking socio-economic value and resilience across the UK.
Whether you’re a researcher, policymaker, student, or practitioner, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with global climate action and explore innovative approaches to resilience and sustainability.
