Pen Cabot

Business Development Director

As Business Development Director, Pen’s focus is on strengthening existing, and building new, relationships with partners from a range of sectors and supporting the overall strategy and growth of the Institute.

Pen joined Walker in May 2020, bringing twenty five years of international experience: over a decade of which has been spent living and working across Africa. Starting her career as a human capital consultant, Pen moved into communications and partnership development in the fair trade movement (New Zealand) and in East Africa from 2008 onwards. Here, she worked for several NGOs including CCBRT in Tanzania and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) before co-founding a business focused on data for soft commodity supply chains in the tropics and raising private equity to drive the business forward. Through this role, Pen gained extensive experience in business development, strategy, climate change and its manifold impacts across the Global South: building a portfolio of projects, products and services.

Beyond Walker, Pen is a Trustee for a wellbeing NGO, has a penchant for the seaweed sector and enjoys writing poetry, swimming and trail running
