Jordan Workshops  

participants of the workshop in Jordan working togetherThe Walker Institute together with the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan and other collaborators, hosted a workshop in Amman, Jordan on June 9-10, focusing on transboundary adaptation. Representatives from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria shared knowledge and experiences on addressing shared environmental challenges. This was the first in a series of capacity-building initiatives to support governments adopting a transboundary approach to climate adaptation.  Read more

Learning Lab 1 for AGRHYMET Trainers

Learning lab 1 participants in zoom callThe Walker Institute, in support of the AGRHYMET Regional Center, delivered the first of three Learning Labs to trainers and agronomists at the beginning of June 2024. The main objective of the Learning Labs is to support and strengthen AGHRYMET’s technical and operational capacities by introducing a core interdisciplinary module common to all courses.  Read more

Building resilience of the UK food system to weather and climate shocks; 13-14 June 2024  

picture of vegetablesThis two-day workshop, held at the Henley Business School Greenlands campus, brought together expertise from across UK and international climate, agriculture and food policy research and practice. The aim was to consider knowledge gaps and research priorities for effective climate adaptation and resilience in the UK food system, avoiding negative consequences. Social policy researchers contributed insights into some of the broader aspects of climate adapted food policy, including food access and the affordability of a ‘healthy’ diet. The meeting had a practical focus: who needs to act, how and when?

8th of July: Next MCRILG session: Climate forecast modelling

flyer for MCRILG 8 JulyJoin us at this month’s Interdisciplinary Learning Group session where Masilin Gudoshava will be telling us about the role of Climate modelling and will discuss the paper titled “Characterization and variability of Kiremt rainy season over Ethiopia”.
Session time: 8th of July 13:00-14:00 BST (GMT +1)
Masilin is a Climate Modelling Expert at the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a particular interest in producing tailored forecasts that cater to the specific needs of various climate-sensitive sectors, such as agriculture, health and disaster management

Dr Anlan Chen

 

Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Henley Business School and a member of the Centre for Euro-Asian Studies and Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship

Anlan’s research interests lie at the intersection between entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation. Her recent research focusses investigating firm growth at different stages of entrepreneurship. Anlan works closely with business practitioners and values cross-disciplinary research collaboration.
