The Walker Institute delivered an event in the framework of the Green Festival 2024, organised from 19-21 November in the University of Reading.

The University of Reading is an official Observer of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) process, having participated in almost a decade of the global climate conference and negotiating platform.  This status was obtained and maintained by the Walker Institute and underpins our direct research in support of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which we are heavily involved in (particularly WGI on The Physical Science – with most lead authors of any single institution in the world) at the University of Reading.

This year 4 PhD students and 2 academic staff comprised the delegation who attended the conference in person, with 7 MSc students and 13 academic staff being enrolled as virtual observers.

The Walker Institute organised this event to inform all University of Reading staff and students on latest developments during COP29.
