Biography
Dr Heidi Llanwarne is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and Chartered Actuary and has an interest in climate related risks. She has over 15 years post qualification experience in insurance, consultancy and the Government Actuary’s Department. She has designed and built bespoke financial, cost control, risk and accounting models for a range of clients using state of the art analytical and data science techniques. She has (i) extensive experience working in insurance regulation and has assisted local regulators in developing countries set up insurance regulations and legislation (ii) assisted DEFRA in assessing various options for managing flood risk which led to the setting up of Flood Re (iii) reviewed the financial model of the African Risk Capacity Insurance Company (iv) assessed the cost associated with the spread of animal disease (v) an interest in materials selection and building design to mitigate heat stress (vi) a PhD in Engineering and an MA in Natural Science.
