Biography

Dr Irina Heim is a Lecturer in Apprenticeship Programmes and the Army Higher Education Pathway at Henley Business School. She is also Deputy Director of the Centre for Euro-Asian Studies and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Her research interests include diversification from the natural resource sector, strategies for firms operating in resource-abundant economies, and environmental and economic policies in the oil and gas regions. She has researched organisations from both developed and emerging countries, covering Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan and China. She was the recipient of the Best Reviewer Award at the Academy of International Business (AIB) 2019. She also secured Woman in International Business and AIB travel grants.
Irina has 10 years' experience in various top management positions with German global ICT companies and integrates industry knowledge in her teaching and research. She has worked for University College London (UCL) Consultants and the UCL department of Economics to develop a course for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and also taught Kazakhstani entrepreneurs on a course organised by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan Atameken and the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, contributing to the development of the policy recommendations for Kazakhstan's government.
