Sir Brian Hoskins

Emeritus Professor of Meteorology, University of Reading

Brian joined the Department of Meteorology in 1971, became a Professor in 1981 and is now Emeritus. His research has been in understanding atmospheric motion on all scales. He has been on many national and international committees, including the JSC of the World Climate Research Programme, IPCC and the UK Climate Change Committee. He has received numerous prizes, is a member of the scientific academies of the UK, USA, China and Europe and has been awarded the 2024 Japan Prize.
