Tabarak Ballal

Professor Tabarak Ballal is Professor of Construction Engineering and Management in the School of the Built Environment. She has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on the application of Artificial Neural Networks as decision support systems in design. Her current research interests include advancing research and knowledge in computational methodologies using AI for data-driven social value modelling particularly in relation to social value impact of built environment and infrastructure projects. Professor Ballal's is also conducting research which focuses on climate adaptation through the consideration of the intersection of grey, green, and blue infrastructure to mitigate vulnerabilities arising from climate change in the Global South. She has carried out extensive capacity building programmes in Africa including in Sudan and Ethiopia and has been involved in disaster management research in the Philippines.
