On Saturday, 17th May 2025, we joined the lively celebration at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus for a fantastic family-friendly event focused on community, learning, and climate discussions.

The Walker Institute proudly contributed to this vibrant day by engaging with local residents, students, staff, alumni, and community groups. Our stand was a bustling hub for conversations around climate adaptation, featuring interactive displays and real-world examples illustrating how climate science informs decision-making at both local and global levels.

Utilizing our experience as a ‘My Climate Risk’ (MCR) Regional Hub, we invited participants to think about the climate risks they face and to critically analyse how well they feel like they can cope with these risks.

Set against the lively backdrop of WhiteknightsCampus, the Institute’s stand served as a hub for dialogue, where researchers and two dedicated volunteers, Eme Dean-Lewis and Lucia Snyderman both SCENARIODTP PhD researchers, welcomed festivalgoers of all ages.

Marah Eme Lucia LynnBoth Eme and Lucia were part of our Climate Action studio (COPCAS) last year where they followed the discussions at COP29 live from our studio in Reading. During Saturday’s festival they shared what they had learned and some of the experiences they had.
