Master’s Students Welcome!
This Semester the Walker Institute is joining a brilliant team representing 5 departments across the University and an external consultant in delivering an exciting interdisciplinary module, Causality and Decision-Making. This is part of our continuing support of the Climate Change & Artificial Intelligence MSc course at the University of Reading.
EVENTS
Engaging with Decision Makers Training
We are excited to be running our training, Engaging With Decision Makers in the Walker Academy again this year! Participants will attend eight 2.5 hour sessions spread across April to July and will learn valuable skills when it comes to policy engagement. Topics will range from research design, targeted communication, stakeholder mapping and media work.
This training is open to all researchers in the University of Reading. For more information on enrolment and fees contact us in Academy@walker.reading.ac.uk
Fenton House Event
In January, the Walker team held a workshop at Fenton House, a National Trust property in north London featuring antique musical instruments. The session examined climate change risks to the collection and showcased the Dynamic Adaptive Policy Pathways (DAPP) approach for addressing threats to cultural heritage in the UK and beyond. Building on previous work with the National Trust, the team emphasized the need for local knowledge to assess vulnerability, linking national and local climate change storylines to context-specific impacts Attendees included representatives from English Heritage, musical conservators, and National Trust staff from across the UK.
Oxford Convergence 2025
We are excited to report that Walker will be taking part in Oxford Convergence 2025. Convergence is a cultural initiative aimed at creating a shared space for dialogue among people and ideas. We will be part of a panel discussing the human dimensions of the climate crisis. ClimTip Webinars
As part of our continued work with ClimTip we would like to highlight a series of upcoming webinars hosted by the ClimTip team. These webinars cover a large range of topics, ranging from Glacial ice melting to discussing the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.
